It has been announced that the popular anime “One Piece”, currently broadcast on Fuji TV on Sunday mornings, will be moved to the 11:15 pm Sunday slot starting in April. Fuji TV announced this through a reorganization document on the 12th. As it has been coloring “holiday mornings” for about 18 years, viewers are surprised and have various reactions.
TV anime based on the boys’ manga “One Piece” by Oda Eiichiro, which is serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump”, and began broadcasting in 1999. It has been broadcast from 9:30 am on Sundays for about 18 years from October 2006 to the present, and has become a staple of Sunday mornings, especially for children. Fuji TV announced the reorganization for the April period, and officially announced that the broadcast of “One Piece” will be changed to the 11:15 pm Sunday slot starting from April 6th. The new original anime “To Be Hero X” will be broadcast in this slot.
Additionally, the 9am Sunday slot, which currently broadcasts the anime “Tousochu: Great Mission” (Run for Money), will be replaced by a selection of “Gegege no Kitaro” masterpieces entitled “Gegege no Kitaro: My Beloved Gegege Series” to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of Mizuki Shigeru, creator of the Gegege no Kitaro series.
The announcement of One Piece’s move to a late-night slot was met with a series of surprised comments, such as “‘One Piece’ has been moved to a late-night slot, but it will return after the Egghead arc is over, right? Right?”, “Is One Piece moving to a late-night slot!?”, “The day has finally come when One Piece will become a late-night anime”, and “One Piece fans must be sleep-deprived…”.
