The creators of “AKIRA” have come together for the NHK special series “TOKYO REBORN”.
The first episode will be broadcasted on NHK at 9:00 p.m. on December 23rd and will focus on Tokyo’s Bay Area with large-scale development underway in anticipation of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The manga “AKIRA” is said to have predicted the future of Tokyo and so the six-episode series will focus on the development of Tokyo and the trials and challenges.
“AKIRA” began its serialization in 1982 and became an animated film in 1988. Otomo Katsuhiro, the author of “AKIRA” participated in the special along with Hirata Hiroshi (artist) and Japanese artist and scientist Ohashi Tsutomu took part in the program.
