Kimura Takuya and Yamaguchi Tomoko reunite 22 years later for the TV Asahi drama “BG – Shinpen Keigonin”

Back in 1996, Kimura Takuya and Yamaguchi Tomoko starred in the Fuji TV drama “Long Vacation”.

One of the most watch dramas in Japan which was a social phenomenon and captivated fans worldwide (as it was shown on International channels in metro areas), it was revealed that Kimura and Yamaguchi would be reuniting again, 22 years later.

Yamaguchi Tomoko will be starring in Kimura’s TV Asahi drama “BG – Shinpen Keigonin” (BG – Personal Bodyguard) for episodes 6 and 7 which begins on March 1st (airing on Thursday at 9 p.m.).

Kimura said about collaborating with Yamaguchi again, “I’m very thankful, working with Yamaguchi, she is impressive on camera.  She is able to bring her characters to life and make it feel very real.   And then I remembered, ‘This was how she was a long time ago'”.

Yamaguchi who visited the agency for costume fitting visited Kimura on the studio set.  When Kimura saw Yamaguchi, he was frozen and lifted his arms to give her a hug and lifted her like the characters of Sena and Minami of “Long Vacation”.

Yamaguchi said, “It was a magical feeling and the memories to that time rolled back in an instant.  I can’t believe it has been 22 years, it feels like only 22 seconds have past”.
