There will be no AKB48 Senbatsu Sosenkyo in 2019

Since 2009, AKB48 has held their annual AKB48 Senbatsu Sosenkyo (General Election) and in the 10th event, Matsui Jurina was voted #1 in 2018.

But it was announced on March 13th that the event will not be taking place.

According to the official AKB48 blog, “The AKB48 Groups want to continue to work hard every day, so that it can be a group that all fans want to support from the heart”.

The Senbatsu Sosenkyo began in 2009 to determine the members who would take part in a single as voted by the fans.

The selection general election were so popular that it was televised.
