AKB48’s longtime veteran Kashiwagi Yuki has graduated

Kashiwagi Yuki (32) , also known as “Yukirin”, the 3rd generation member of AKB48 and the oldest member with 17 years of career, was the center and focus of the “Kashiwagi Yuki Graduation Concert ~This path I have been walking for 17 years~” at Pia Arena MM in Yokohama on the 16th.

The concert was a culmination of those who have been active as core members for 17 years, including passing the audition in December 2006, one year after the birth of AKB48, in their third year of junior high school, and making their theatrical debut in April 2007. Fifteen past AKB48 members rushed in to congratulate her on her departure.

Joining her in performances was Miyawzawa Sae (2nd Generation) who sung a duet with Yukirin, video messages from Maeda Atsuko (AKB48), Yamamoto Sayaka (NMB48/AKB48), Kitahara Rie (AKB48/NGT48), Hiskawa Rika (former member of Morning Musume) also were shared.

The concert also featured the reunion of French Kiss, which featured Kuramochi Asuka, Takajo Aki and Kashiwagi. Their first performance together since their disbandment eight years ago.

Takahashi Minami, Yokoyama Yui, Sashihara Rino, Minegishi Minami, Kojima Haruna were also in attendance.

Kashiwagi, who appeared in a pale pink dress for the encore, looked back on her 17 years of activities in her graduation speech and said, “These days were like a dream. Even after I graduate, I will continue to be an idol in front of you all. I’m happy to have been in AKB48 for 17 years and for me, AKB48 is my life”.

A total of 46 current members and 15 former members gathered on stage. When the chime rang out, everyone sang “Sakura no Hanabiratachi,” and at the end, all active members sang “Enkyori Poster” for the second time that day, marking a grand finale.

Kashiwagi, who was given a surprise flower by each active member, exclaimed, “Thank you for all the love and happy memories over the past 17 years. I’m the happiest person in the world. Thank you very much!”.

Of the 63 singles released by AKB48 since their major debut, Kashiwagi has been included in senbatsu with 52 singles since their 4th single “BINGO!” (released in July 2007). She is a person of merit who concurrently served as NMB48 from 2014 to 2015, and NGT48 from 2016 to 2019. However, she only served as the double center with Kojima Haruna for the 39th single “Green Flash” (March 2015), and has never been the solo center.
