“Terrace House: Opening New Doors” Episode 11 recap: Seina shakes things up, meanwhile Shion and Tsubasa grow even closer…

You have to love the addition of Shimabukuro Seina to “TERRACE HOUSE: OPENING NEW DOORS”.

Best known for appearing on the original first series “TERRACE HOUSE: OPENING NEW DOORS”, Seina has now joined the terrace house to find her “last love”.

And in episode 11, it was no surprise to see Seina and pro snowboarder Nakamura Takayuki hanging out, as they are the eldest of the roommates but Seina likes the athletes but wants a guy to not take advantage of her.  This is where Takayuki is unlike the pro surfers that appeared in the show, he can rock as a snowboarder but he’s more country than city and he has been the wise roommate so far.

But while we have seen Takayuki and the youngest member Komuro Ami hang out like big brother/little sister, we see this little spark (jealousy?) from Ami that wants to spend more time Takayuki.  So, this will be interesting to watch over time.

But the big focus of this show was how much closer Sato Tsubasa and Okamoto Shion are getting.

Shion is really into Tsubasa and vice versa.  But at first, I thought Tsubasa would try to distance herself from Shion, as ice hockey is her passion and he wanted to focus on the game than having any relationship. But to see these two together in each episode, the two have great chemistry.  And you have to love Tsubasa’s fathers reaction right after the two eat at her family restaurant.

But the wild card is Uemura Shohei.  In this episode, you see the guy sing and surprise his roommates.  But even more surprising is how he is interested in Sena but also in Ami.  Noticing her dark side and wanting to make that darkness disappear.

This will be interesting to watch as well.

But for episode 11, things are going to get interesting and we’ll have to see how these relationships workout within the house.  It’s no doubt a different vibe compared to the past but, I’m enjoying “TERRACE HOUSE: OPENING NEW DOORS” so far!

“TERRACE HOUSE: OPENING NEW DOORS” is the latest “Terrace House” series is set in Karuizawa in the Nagano Prefecture in Japan.  While episode 11 was shown this past week on Netflix Japan, this latest series begun airing on Netflix outside of Japan and the first eight episodes are available internationally.
