London Boots member Tamura Atsushi – “You should impose a penalty on underage people who drink alcohol by lying about their age”

Days after NEWS members Koyama Keiichiro was suspended and Kato Shigeaki was reprimanded after Koyama gave alcohol to an underaged 19-year-old girl who claimed she was 20-years-old (the legal age to drink alcohol in Japan) at his party.

London Boots member Tamura Atsushi took to Twitter and wrote, “Even though the person said ‘I’m over 20-years-old!'”, because of thsi, the future will be, please show me your license or passport to confirm that you can take part in a “Drinking Party”.  This will make things not so much fun and makes me not to want give out anything.  I guess you should impose a penalty on underage people who drink alcohol by lying about their age”.

This led to many comments from people from:

“I agree! I do not know why only members of NEWS are being punished, because underage girls lied.  They should be the ones that need time to reflect on what they did!”.

“In the United States, you need to show your ID when entering a bar (if you don’t, you can’t enter).  I think it would be easier if this was done”.

“The lie about drinking under age is bad, but I thought it was strange that Johnny’s members had to apologize and get punished.”

“The women’s selfishness, her negligent thoughts and actions have become troublesome to both Johnny’s Jimusho, their sponsors and their fans.  The lady should have apologized and be punished.  That’s how it should have happened”.

“There is an image that adults are forcibly recommending people underage to drink, but it actually feels that minors are the ones that want to drink”.

“Perhaps the establishment should be penalized as well.  The establishment allowed the underage people to enter.  Whatever the government decides, I do not think the law is anything but more for morality.  I want to drink happily”.

“It’s a honey trap.  The person saying they are an adult is fraud”.

Tamura posted on Twitter afterward:

Tamura wrote about watching an information program about who should one pursue for confirming the age of someone who says they are “over 20-years-old”?.  Should the establishment that offers alcohol be responsible for confirming the age?

Tamura received comments such as:

“I think the shop, the minor and their parents should take responsibility”.

“For this NEWS story, the store, the minor and her parents should take responsibility”.

“I am asked by convenience stores who check to see if I’m 19 or 20-years-old.  I think restaurants (that serve alcohol) should do the same”.
