As Amuro Namie’s September 16th retirement date is nearing, many fans are organizing an “Amuro Namie 916” crowd funding campaign on the Internet to give back and thank Amuro Namie by taking out major ads on national newspapers and also the “Okinawa Times” on the day of her retirement.
For one newspaper, the goal is to raise 10 million yen and as of June 11th, 4.13 million yen has been raised and for the “Okinawa Times”, a total of 540,000 yen out of 3 million yen has been raised.
Back in December 2016, SMAP fans showed their appreciation to the group after they decided to disband, with full-page advertisements.
