China’s Gakky, Ron Monroe, is featured on the cover and gravure for “Weekly Young Jump”

Long Mengrou (romanized as Ron Monroe) has become a popular talent due to her similar looks with actress Aragaki Yui.

Monroe’s success is an amazing story as she comes from the eight-largest minority group in China, the Tujia people and was born in a small farming village in the Xiangxi Tuji and Miao Prefecture in the northwest of Hunan province in southeastern China.

Her village has only 165 households and very few left to go to college.  While attending college, she had dreams of become a singer and received offers after taking the top spot on the China Central Television audition show, “Come, Cinderella” but in respect for her parents, she continued with her education and graduated from Shanghai Ocean University.

Called the “Chinese Gakky”, Ron Monroe is featured on the cover and gravure for “Weekly Young Jump” issue no. 29 (Shueisha) which was released on June 21st.

Ron Monroe wrote about how it is a little embarrassing to see herself in gravure but fans were supportive.

“You have a very good smile.  I look forward to your continued success in Japan!”.

“I purchased ‘Young Jump’ for the very first time!”

“I bought two issues, because you are so cute!”

Ron Monroe is currently studying Japanese and have posted Japanese on her Instagram.  She has also appeared on the NTV drama “Love Run” and released her first music single, “PLANET”.
