Singer Tokunaga Hideaki was taken to a hospital ER

Singer Tokunaga Hideaki (57) was rushed to an emergency room in Tokyo on Tuesday afternoon.

According to his agency, Tokunaga experienced intense coughing while meeting with staff in Tokyo.  He was lying down and the staff took care of him and called 119.

Tokunaga was taken to the hospital for medical treatment  and received an examination.

He will be hospitalized for the day and will take a precautionary examination on September 5th.

According to another source, Tokunaga is conscious and energetic and they believe that he will be able to perform for his upcoming events in Niigata and Toyama as part of his nationwide tour.

Tokunaga was diagnosed with Moyamoya disease back in 2004.  The disease is a rare, progressive cerebrovascular disorder caused by blocked arteries at the base of the brain in an area called the basal ganglia.
