Actress Kirin Kiki has passed away

Actress Kirin Kiki (75) who has starred in many films such as “Tora-san, His Tender Love”, “Returner”, “Kamikaze Girls”, “Still Walking”, “Like Father, Like Son” and most recently, “Shoplifters”, to name a few, has passed away.

Kirin passed away at her home in Shibuya ward at 2:45 a.m. on September 15th. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Her funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on  September 30th.

Kirin was married to musician Uchida Yuya, while separated since 1975, remained legally married to him.  She has a daughter, actress Uchida Yayako (42), who is married to actor Motoki Masahiro (52).

Her granddaughter is actress Uchida Kyara, who appeared with her in the films “I Wish” and “Sweet Bean”.  Her grandson is model Uchida Uta.

On the 16th, friends such as Wada Akiko (68), Kimura Takuya (45) and wife Kudo Shizuka (48), Lily Franky (54) visited her home.
