Yamashita Tatsuro broadcasts TOKYO FM’s “Sunday Songbook” from home

Legendary singer/songwriter Yamashita Tatsuro (67) did his TOKYO FM “Sunday Songbook” from home on April 12th.

This is his first time doing his radio program from home in 28 years (the program started in 1992).

Yamashita announced that some performances and acoustic lives scheduled to be held will be canceled.

The May 2nd and 3rd performance at Osaka/Umeda CLUB QUATTRO, June 6 and 7th Hiroshima CLUB QUATTRO and the July 4th and 5th Niigata LOTS performance will be canceled.

Previously, the Tokyo performances on February 29th and March 1st have been postponed and the Aichi performances in April have been canceled.

Yamashita said, “By July, audience will not be able to enjoy the live concerts with a peace of mind. So, we will do it again someday later”.

Yamashita said he used the same type of microphone that he normally uses at the radio station.    While the talk portion was done at home, he utilized live sound source from 2017-2019 from his home studio and sent it to the director who received it and edited it form his home and sent the data to the station.

By doing the program from home and eliminating the round trip between his home and Hanzomon, it can reduce the risk of infection.

At the beginning of the program, Yamashita discussed the novel coronavirus and that what we need most now is to overcome political issues and unite.  To help the people all over the world and fight the virus by temporarily suspending political conflicts.  Calmness and generosity are important than anything else.
