Yamashita Tatsuro’s “Christmas Eve” enters the Oricon Top 100 for its 37th consecutive year

Singer-songwriter Yamashita Tatsuro’s “Christmas Eve (30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION)” sold 30,000 copies last week and entered the Oricon top 100 according to the latest “Oricon Weekly Single Ranking” announced on December 20th.

The same work ranked 40th in the TOP 100 of “Oricon Weekly Single Ranking” back in 1986 and has entered the Oricon Top 100 for 37 consecutive years since 12/8 (1987).

Considered the #1 Japanese Christmas song, the song is best known for its iconic JR train holiday commercials:

This year also broke the record of “number of consecutive years in TOP 100 weekly singles”. This time, the current product “Christmas Eve (30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION)” regular edition will be covered with a three-sided BOX, and this year’s only “2022 Christmas Package” will appear. This package design is handled by Yamazaki Mari, who was also in charge of the jacket design of the album “SOFTLY” released in June 2022.
