Kyary Pamyu Pamyu deletes tweet after fans got into heated argument in the comments section

Yesterday, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu joined with other celebrities who voiced their opinion in regards to a hidden amendment laid by the Abe Administration which was to increase the retirement age of the public prosecutor’s office beyond the age of 63 (note: there was one to extend the age to 65 and another to extend past 63 if the cabinet approves of it).

Many celebrities such as Koizumi Kyoko, Shirota Yu, Tadanobu Asano, Sueyoshi Shuta of AAA, former AKB48 member Akimoto Sayaka have used the hashtag: #検察庁法改正案に抗議します (Protest the Prosecutor’s Office law amendment)

A political critic wrote to Kyary saying that its to align the retirement age of national civil servants to 65 years of age and as for the second, it is not possible for the cabinet to command the public prosecutor’s office. And for her not to be fooled by rumors. You may not know much about it because you are a singer.  Do what you do best, as a singer”.

Which led to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu to reply back to the tweet, “I am a singer and I may not know much about it, but what you said is pretty rude”.

This would lead to infighting for those who support the retirement age increase to 65, while fans of KPP would get into back-and-forth arguments with fans and those who are in support for the amendment (some who were also fans) and the arguing became more political.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu deleted the tweet and posted the following, “I’ve come to a point where I’m not familiar with politics but my trusted friends were talking about this and I felt I wanted to protect our future, because we are in times of difficulty due to the coronavirus. The reason why I deleted the post was that I was sad because the opinions between fans were split and there was an intense debate in the comment section and I decided to delete it. I think it’s okay, because I don’t want my fans to quarrel”.
