Kimura Kyoko (43), mother of the late Kimura Hana, has filed a complaint with BPO (Broadcast Ethics and Program Improvement Organization) on July 15th against Fuji TV/Netflix, claiming of a human rights violation for the broadcast of “TERRACE HOUSE: TOKYO 2019-2020”.
As it was revealed by Kimura Hana to her mother and friends before her death and also Kobayashi Kai, the “costume incident” scene of episode 38 during an interview with Weekly Bunshun that it was staged. Fuji TV stands by their earlier press conference that performers on the show were not coerced and they discussed the scene with Hana prior to doing it.
The scene is what led to the online hate comments which is suspected of leading Kimura Hana to taking her own life.
