More details emerge in regards to Yamaguchi Tatsuya’s DUI

Yamaguchi Tatsuya was arrested on September 22nd around 9:30 a.m., after driving his motorcycle under in the influence of alcohol and hitting a car.

A police officer on the scene stated that Yamaguchi said he was drinking at home until morning and wasn’t sure how much he drank.  The investigation revealed that before the accident he drunk 5 to 6 cups of barley shochu.   And that Yamaguchi drinks a few glasses of shochu before going to bed.

Yamaguchi told police that he was living alone and is unemployed.  Also saying, “When I got into the accident, I was drunk and driving.  I thought I might be arrested.  I was more tired than usual.”

In security camera  and car camera video, Yamaguchi was seen wearing a backpack.  Yamaguchi said he was going to deliver a package to a relative’s house just a few km from his home.

Yamaguchi reportedly said, “I thought that it wouldn’t happen because it’s a short distance away from my home”.

A sentence for drunk driving is imprisonment for up to three years or a fine up to Y500,000.  There is also an administrative punishment if 0.25 mg of alcohol is detected.  25 violate points will be imposed and one’s license can be revoked for two years.

For Yamaguchi, his blood alcohol was .7 mg.

Many fans were rooting for Yamaguchi to make a comeback, that he has paid his debt for the scandal which rocked him and his TOKIO bandmates in 2018 but it seems that may no longer happen.
