Johnny’s bombshell! V6 to disband!

It was announced that V6 will be disbanding on November 1st.

It was announced on the official Johnny’s website that Morita Go (42) will leave Johnny’s that same day, while Sakamoto Masayuki (42), Nagano Hiroshi (48), Inohara Yoshihiko (44), Miyake Ken (41) and Okada Junichi will stay with Johnny’s.

The announcement was as follows:

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support. We would like to inform you that V6 will be dissolved on November 1, 2021. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who have warmly supported us and supported our activities over the past 26 years, and to all the people concerned who have supported us with encouragement. The six people who gathered under Johnny and decided to walk together as V6 made our CD debut on November 1, 1995. Since then, we have been steadily accumulating days and spending more than half of my life as V6, and as a result, we were able to celebrate the 25th anniversary of our debut last year. Although it was in the form of a live broadcast, the members themselves were glad that they shared the same time with the fans and expressed their gratitude in their own performance and in their own words. It was a stage where we were able to stand. This time, we came to the conclusion of disbanding, which is the result of being proud of the six members of V6 and making positive decisions about our future life as a human being. From around the spring of 2019, there were more opportunities for six people to discuss with each other toward the 25th anniversary of our debut. By seriously facing the time spent with the fans, in addition to the group activities and as an individual, it was an opportunity to communicate frankly about people’s lives. For the six of us, the milestone of V6, where all the members faced at the age of 40, meant facing life itself.

UPDATE: Morita said he had wanted to challenge himself as an actor in an environment away from Johnny’s and the members grew older, the each thought about their future, their individual perspectives collided with each other.

According to one official, the members decided to disband after repeated discussions since the spring of 2019.

V6 made their music debut on November 1, 1995 with their album “MUSIC FOR THE PEOPLE”.  Last November, the 25th anniversary live broadcast was held at Yoyogi No. 1 Gymnasium in Tokyo.
