Shujo Prime is reporting that sources say Katsuji Ryo wished he married Matsumoto Mariko instead of Maeda Atsuko

There have been rumored marital problems between actress Maeda Atsuko and actor Katsuji Ryo for the past year and half.

The two who were married in July 2018 and have a son together, have been reported to be in divorce negotiations.

According to a sports newspaper, “They lived in a condominium where Maeda’s parents lived so they could receive support.  Katsuji also helped with the childcare, but sometimes he drank until late at night.  Katsuji left the condominium and started living in a separate location.  It was said that it was a cooling period but it seems that it was impossible for the two to repair their relationship and entered divorce talks.

And according to tabloid “Shujo Prime”, an acquaintance of Katsuji said, “I was surprised he married Maeda-san. I thought he would marry Marika-chan. From around the summer last year, Katsuji said, “Honestly, I want to go back to that time…” and “I wish I had been with her”.

The her in question is Matsumoto Marika, according to the tabloid.

The two met in 2000 when he co-starred with her in the NHK drama “Rokubanme no Sayoko”. At the time, Katsuji was 14 years old and Matsumoto was 16 years old.

The article goes in further about how close the two were, and despite it being many years ago, the article focuses on how the two have an inseparable bond.

Another speculation from another publication, but whether or not it’s true, Matsumoto Marika’s name has now been brought to what may be a troubled relationship.
