The population of all 23 wards in Tokyo has fallen compared to the previous month, the first time in 25 years

NHK is reporting that the population of all 23 wards in Tokyo has fallen compared to the previous month, the first time in 25 years and 7 months.

The largest decrease was in Edogawa ward (951 people), followed by Setagaya Ward (948 people) and Itabashi Ward (805 people).

The number of people who moved away from Tokyo was greater than those who moved in from other prefectures.

Lifestyle changes during the pandemic such as the ability to work remotely at home and not having to be in the city due to the novel coronavirus was big contributor.
