Kimura Takuya collaborates with Ray-Ban

Kimura Takuya is collaborating with Ray-Ban in Japan for the release of their aluminum framed, tinted aviator sunglasses.

Kimura Takuya has worn the Ray-Ban Wayfarers in the drama “Grand Maison Tokyo” and often wears Ray-Ban on his Instagram.

For the collaboration, Kimura chose Aviator as the base. Kimura loved it as a teenager as he enjoyed the movie “Top Gun” and saw Tom Cruise wearing aviators in the film.

He wanted light-colored lenses partly because in Japan, the lenses are lightly colored, so people can see one’s eyes to see the facial expressions of a person.

The lenses are light control lenses and darkens in response to the UV.

So, it can be used indoors and outdoors, as the lens becomes darker to protect eyes from UV.

The frame is made of Titanium making full use of Japanese craftmanship.  At the temple end, you can see the initials TK, handwritten by Kimura Takuya.

Only 200 pieces are available and the serial number is also engraved.

The sunglasses went on sale on April 24th at the Ray-Ban store in Shibuya and the Ray-Ban official online shop.
