Kimura Takuya to reprise his role for a serialized drama and a movie for “Kyojo”?

Josei Prime has an article that a sequel to Kimura Takuya’s “Kyojo” (a special drama that aired in the spring of 2020 and 2021) will be serialized for the 9:00 p.m. spot for Fuji TV next April.

The popular drama in which Kimura (who looks aged with his white hair) plays a tough as nails instructor at the police academy, became a hit with the audience with a rating over 15%.

The second installment which showcases the growth of the students at the academy had a high audience rating of over 13%.

Because it was hit twice in a row, Fuji TV made an offer for Kimura to make the special into a serial drama. Kimura who does not take on sequels, no matter how successful his works are, but Kimura started to say, “As you progressed in your career, it seems that your way of thinking became more flexible, thinking ‘if the audience wants it’”. A sequel is being produced for “BG ~Personal Guardian~” and a movie version of “Masquerade Hotel” was released in 2019.

But when it was offered that he would get the coveted 9:00 p.m. time slot for next spring, Fuji TV asked Kimura if he would appear in a sequel to Kyojo and said at the time that he wanted to play another character. And after being asked again many months later, it appears that Kimura warmed up to it and decided to do it.

And that preparations fora movie version based on the 4th installment of the original work “Kazama Kyojo” are underway.
