Being an anime fan is rather like an obsession and true otaku will go to extreme lengths to support their favorite sagas. SEITOKAI YAKUINDOMO fans are no exception, and here’s the payoff: another ridiculous story of the former all-girl’s school where seemingly all of the ladies have sex on the mind constantly… or at least talk that way… while poor Takatoshi dutifully labors on as the male focus of the rest of the student council’s hyper-focused attentions. From appearing in questionably-intended student films to taking some very hands-on wrestling lessons, no good deed will ever come without pun-ishment when it’s constantly innuendo and out the other in SEITOKAI YAKUINDOMO THE MOVIE 2!

It was back in 2007 when “Seitokai Yakuindomo” was first serialized in Kodansha’s “Magazine Special” and later in “Weekly Shonen Magazine”.

The series revolved around Tsuda Takatoshi who attends Osai Academy, which is a high school that converted from an all girl school to a co-ed school due to declining birth rates.

On his first day of school, he is forced to join the student council (Seitokai Yakuindomo) and become the vice president and the representative of the male students.

For Tsuda, he just wanted to attend the school because it was closer to home but he often finds himself in trouble because he spouts out things that are perverted.

He is joined by student council president, Amakusa Shino, a serious student who excels in many of the things she does in school.  But in truth, she is often thinking of perverted things and has a hard time of turning it off and is interested in Tsuda.

Also in the student body is Shichijo Aria (the student body secretary) comes from an affluent family and can be an airhead but despite being an airhead, she is very smart and is no. 2 behind Shino in academics.

And there is Hagimura Suzu (the student body treasurer) who is super smart in math, fluent in multiple languages but she happens to be very short that she is mistaken to be a child.

And the series depicted the activities of the student body secretary.

A 13-episode TV would be created by GoHands in 2010, followed by an 8 episode OVA series and then a second season consisting of 13-episodes in 2014 and another OVA series consisting of 10 episodes from 2014-2020.

Meanwhile, the first animated film would be released in July 2017 and a second animated film released on New Years Day of 2021.

And now the second film will be released on Blu-ray courtesy of Sentai Filmworks.

The second film in itself several stories.  And the primary theme is the Student Body Council will be creating and starring in a film for the Ousai Film Club competition.  But what kind of story will they go for?  Will it be suitable for the students or will it be weird?

VIDEO:

“Seitokai Yakuindomo 2: The Movie” is is a vibrant animated film presented in 1080p.  There is just so many scenes in this film and a variety of styles that I was really impressed of how many scenes were featured and how well animated the film was.

I didn’t notice any banding issues or compression during my viewing of the animated film.

AUDIO & SUBTITLES:

“Seitokai Yakuindomo 2: The Movie” is presented in Japanese DTS-HD MA 5.1. The film features crystal clear dialogue and music.

Subtitles are in English.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

“Seitokai Yakuindomo 2: The Movie” comes with the textless opening and ending themes.

“Seitokai Yakuindomo 2: The Movie” was a major surprise.  For one, it was just hilarious to see this film that the student council is preparing and how each person was cast.

For instance, Hagimura was played opposite of Tsuda and Hagimura plays the role of a sister in love with her older brother.  Of course, with the other girls falling for Tsuda and a director who has crazy ideas, the question is how will this film play out?  Amakusa constantly thinks of perverted things and the crazy things that come out of the mouths of these students is sometimes surprising and very perverted.

But “Seitokai Yakuindomo” is just fun and the dirty jokes are just one after the other and I think for the most part, fans will be entertained.

Now if you are expecting anything new, you’re not going to get it.  The humor remains consistent as the TV series and OVA (with the films being a bit more mature in nature) and whether or not you like that, it will be subjective.

There is also some borrowing from the second OVA series for one of the scenes.

But if anything, it’s a good animated film that I found myself watching it in parts, because it’s like a culmination of episodes made to an animated film.

Personally, I think this film being released would satisfy fans, especially during the pandemic and the staff wanting people to laugh again.

So, I give “Seitokai Yakuindomo 2: The Movie” a thumbs up for those who enjoy the series but for those who want a bit of adult humor.
