It was announced that Hi-STANDARD drummer Tsuneoka Akira has passed away on February 14th.

According to the official website and other announcements, details are currently being confirmed. “To all the media, please consider the deep sorrow of the family, relatives, and members, and refrain from reporting or posting articles based on speculation”.

Hi-STANDARD was formed in 1991 by vocalist/bassist Namba bAkihiro, guitarist Yokoyama Ken and drummer Tsuneoka. In 1999, they established their own label “PIZZA OF DEATH RECORDS”, and the album “MAKING THE ROAD” became a million hit. After “AIR JAM 2000” in 2000, they took a hiatus, but resumed their activities with “AIR JAM 2011” in 2011. In 2018, the documentary film “SOUNDS LIKE SHIT: the story of Hi-STANDARD” was screened.
