As a novice level Monster Tamer, Yuji would normally be one of the last ones chosen when putting together a dungeon delving party. However, thanks to a clever trick involving a bunch of slimes, Yuji has also absorbed the archived knowledge of a great Sage and secretly gained an incredibly powerful second class! And if that’s not enough, he’s actually from a place called Japan in another world, which adds even more tricks up his sleeve! But even with these abilities and the help of his slimes, a magical Proud Wolf, and a forest spirit named Dryad, will that be enough to face off against rock dragons, sinister cults and gangs of slavers? Yuji had better hope so, because fate and fortune seem determined to put him into the most ridiculously dangerous situations as often as possible in MY ISEKAI LIFE!

In 2017, the light novel series “Tensei Kenja no Isekai Raifu ~Daini no Shokugyō o Ete, Sekai Saikyō ni Narimashita~” (which translates to “My Isekai Life: I Gained a Second Character Class and Became the Strongest Sage in the World!”) would make its debut online through the user-generated publishing website “Shosetsuka ni Naro”.

The series was acquired by SB Creative and it was released as a series in 2018 through GA Novel Label. A manga adaptation followed featuring art by Ponjea and serialized on Square Enix’s online manga magazine “Manga UP!” and an anime TV series would be adapted by Revoroot from July 2017 and is still ongoing.

And the series has been released on Blu-ray courtesy of Sentai Filmworks.

The series is wildly entertaining and should appeal to those who love RPG video games or anime series about an unlikely hero!

The series revolves around a company worker named Sano Yuji. Always working may it be at the office or even at home, but one day, his life changes when he comes home to see his PC flashing a message that he is being summoned to another world. Yuji restarts his computer but finds out that by doing so, he accepted the summons and is now transported into a fantasy world.

Yuji is a Monster Tamer and is looked to be weak by everyone who meets him. But in truth, Yuji is the most powerful being in this fantasy world thanks to him being a powerful sorcerer class known as Sage. And because he is a Monster Tamer, he controls many slimes with many abilities, a super quick wolf known as Proudwolf and a forest spirit Dryad.

While Yuji secretly protects the village and many people from powerful monsters and dragons, a mysterious cult known as Blue Moon of Salvation is up to no good.

For the most part, I loved this anime series because Yuji is really aloof to how powerful he is. He is learning along the way, meanwhile taking on powerful monsters. At the same time, being humble and not bragging that he is powerful, even if people think he’s a weakling because he is a Monster Tamer.

Also, his slimes and monsters are also fun to watch as each have their own distinct personality.

But needless to say, Yuji becomes that unseen hero that will inspires people along the way. And you can’t help but root for him but unbeknownst to Yuji, he is not the only powerful person around.

“My Isekai Life” is an anime series for those who love RPG’s, adventure and magic-based anime series. I absolutely enjoyed this series in its entirety and the only thing that I didn’t like that it was over so soon, as there are only 12 episodes.

With the manga series at 20 volumes (as of May 2023), there is still more story to tell and I hope a second anime season will be released in the near future.
