Tachibana Risa (52), an actress and idol who was all the rage in the 1980s, updated her blog on the 24th. She confessed that in 2020, she was diagnosed with rectal cancer and had part of her intestines, uterus, ovaries and vagina removed.

Tachibana wrote, “It’s a personal matter, but I was diagnosed with rectal cancer in 2020 and underwent surgery to remove my intestines, uterus, ovaries, and vagina. Last month marked 3 years since my surgery. I underwent medical check-ups and I am currently recovering well with no recurrence. Although it’s not perfect yet, I felt like my depression, which had been quite severe since last month, and my body, which had been unable to move as I wanted, had suddenly gotten better, so I thought I’d share this with everyone”.

Tachibana continued, “I decided to get tested myself! When I got tested, I realized that I was in the early stages. I have several friends who have had cancer, so I hope that as many people as possible will be glad they got tested early”.

Tachibana made her debut at the age of 15. She starred in the 1987 drama “Maindo Osawa Gaseshimasu 3”. She appeared in the movie “Be Bop High School Yotaro Ondo” (1988), and became a representative idol of the late 1980s.
