Hotei Tomoyasu posts a classic photo of himself when he was 17-years-old on Instagram

Hotei Tomoyasu is one of Japan’s well-known musicians, singer/songwriter, composer and record producer.

Hotei posted an image of himself on Instagram when he was 17-years-old.

Hotei wrote, “I found a nostalgic photograph.  When I was around 17-years-old. BC Rich’s Mockingbird. 40 years ago! No eyebrows. #HoteiTomoyasu #17yearsold #Amateurera #wheniwasyoung #17

At that age, Hotei was not long after he was expelled from high school around 1978.  Not long after, he would meet Himuro Kyosuke and both would form a band in 1981 known as Boøwy.

The band would become so popular that in 1986, they would achieve their first million-selling album “Beat Emotion” and became the first male artists to have three No. 1 albums within a single year on the Oricon Album Charts.

Boøwy would be ranked at #22 by HMV Japan back in 2003 as one of the “100 Most Important Japanese Pop Acts”.

Hotei Tomoyasu is known for composing and performing the score for Nakano Hiroyuki’s “Samurai Fiction”, three tracks for “Fear and Loating in Las Vegas” together with Ray Cooper.

And his best known song is “Battle Without Honor or Humanity” which was used in Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill” and Michael Bay’s “Transformers”.
