Hotei Tomoyasu takes to Instagram to reply to those who are upset for him coming back home to Japan from the UK and planning for a live concert in January

Musician/Singer/Producer Hotei Tomoyasu (best known as the guitarist of the popular rock band, BOOWY) has made the UK his home base for music and while his wife and home is in Japan, he has documented his focus on music and traveling throughout Europe and also planning his 40th anniversary live at Budokan which is supposed to be in January 2021.

But when news came out of a novel coronavirus strain in the UK was announced, before any flight lockdowns were imposed by UK and Japan, Hotei made sure to return back home to Japan.

But there are those who are unhappy by Hotei coming back to Japan from the UK and also for him still planning a live concert set for January in Budokan, considering positive infections growing at a rapid rate throughout Japan.

Hotei wrote, “I have taken thorough infection prevention measures as much as possible, and have been silently staying at home without going out or having any contact with people. This is because of my responsibility as the leader of my team, including those involved in the concert staff who entrusted their hope for the January 2021 Budokan performance announced in September.  Concerts currently held in Japan with a capacity of half or up to 5,000 people may be subject to new regulations announced by the government as the infection spreads in the future.  At this time, we follow those rules.  In 2020, we canceled all live activities without being able to announce them.  It is a common desire of all artists to send our love through music to as many people as possible, even though they are confused by the uncertain situation.  As the keyword ‘UK’ is repeated in the news everyday, it is best to have thoughts and opinions, and I accept what I can accept.  At the end of 2020, which is full of hardships for everyone, it is sad and painful to take back my own words.  After the two week quarantine period, I will re-examine things just in case.  I would like to believe that I am not the only one who wants to perform live in January”.
