The preliminary results for the AKB48 53rd Single Sekai Senbatsu Sousenkyo (53rd World General Election) preliminary results are in and NGT48 Team NIII’s Ogino Yuka is at #1 for the second consecutive year.  SKE48 Team S’ Matsui Jurina is currently at #2 and HKT48 Team KIV’s Miyawaki Sakura is at #3.

On June 16th, the 10th annual AKB48 World Senbatsu General Election will be held at Nagoya Dome. The election will determine the members who will participate in AKB48’s 53rd single by the votes by fans.  The person voted #1 will become center and the top 16 will be participating on the main track for the 53rd single.

A total of 339 people will be participating including ten members from Bangkok, Thailand’s BNK48, five members from Taipei, Taiwan’s TPE48. All members of JKT48 (Jakarta, Indonesia) will not be participating as the event overlaps with an Indonesian religious festival, Lebaran.

Sashihara Rino who has won the center position four times in the last five years will not be participating in this year’s general election, and so this year, we will have a new person voted as center.

The preliminary results are as follows.  It’s important to note that what is often seen at preliminary results changes dramatically when the final votes are revealed.  But it gives an early look for those not in the preliminary results to ramp up votes and appeal for their fans to vote.
