Sometimes, the heat of the moment can make you do crazy things.
For HiHi Jets member Ikari Souya, he wanted to create a Twitter trend, so after their performance at “Papa Mama Ichiban Hadaka no Shonen Natsu Matsuri” in Roppongi on August 18th, he asked everone to tweet with the hashtag “Nihon Hakai” (日本破壊) which means “Japan’s Destruction”.
And sure enough, many fans who were there live or were watching the concert via live streaming did just that.
For those who were not at the live performance and those who didn’t watch the streaming live, saw many tweets with #日本破壊
Needless to say, many were caught off-guard, were shocked, wondering if it was some type of cultish trend on Twitter advocating for the destruction of Japan.

Johnny’s posted an apology letter on their paid member’s only site “Johnny’s Web” on the 19th.
A Johnny’s representative said the use of the word was metaphorical and to get people to be excited at an unprecedented level and for everyone to remember HiHi Jets. There was no other malicious intent. But it was inappropriate and it made many people worried. So, therefore an apology was posted on Johnny’s Web.
