“Urusei Yatsura” anime series to broadcast on Fuji TV’s Noitamina in October 2022

A completely new animation for “Urusei Yatsura” by Takahashi Rumiko will be broadcast in October on Fuji TV’s late night anime programming block “Noitamina”.

A new key visual was released featuring Moroboshi Ataru looking up at Lum floating upside down as the two stare at each other.

It was also announced that voice actor Takagi Wataru will play Cherry and Sawashiro Miyuki will play Sakura.

“Urusei Yatsura” is one of Takahashi’s masterpieces, along with popular series “Maison Ikkoku”, “Ranma 1/2” and “Inuyasha”. Takahashi made her debut in 1978 with “Urusei Yatsura”, and “Urusei Yatsura” was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Sunday” (Shogakukan) from 1978 to 1987.

The story follows Moroboshi Ataru, a bad high school student who loves women and is a pervert, who comes on contact with Lum, the daughter of a demon who came to Earth and due to a situation between the two, he becomes Lum’s fiance. The TV anime was broadcast on Fuji TV from October 1981 to March 1986.

The new work will be made into a TV animation for the first time in about 36 years to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Shogakukan, which publishes the work. Kamiya Hiroshi will play Ataru Moroboshi and Uesaka Sumire will play Lum.
