LEGO announces Hokusai’s “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, The Great Wave of Kanagawa”

LEGO announces Hokusai Katsushika’s “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, The Great Wave of Kanagawa” as part of LEGO® Art.  Sales start on February 1st in Japan, while US shows also January 1st.

Hokusai was a japanese ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period best known for his woodblock print series, especially for “Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji” which includes the iconic print “The Great Wave of Kanagawa”.

“Since the early 1830s when Katsushika Hokusai created the original woodblock print of “Thirty-six Views of Mt. It continues to be reproduced. It depicts Japan’s representative mountain, Mt.Fuji, on the other side of a large wave covering a group of small boats. In 2023, when this set is released, Mt. Fuji will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its registration as a World Cultural Heritage Site”.
