Goto Yuki was elected for Chiba Prefecture Yachimata City Council

The Chiba Prefecture Yachimata City Council election (fixed number of 20) was voted and counted on the 27th, and the younger brother of former Morning Musume member, Goto Maki, ran as an independent candidate.

Goto Yuki (37), the younger brother of Maki Goto (38), was elected for the first time.

Twenty-four candidates are running for the city council elections. Goto, who was the second youngest of the candidates, was elected and tied for second with 1,415 votes.

He moved to the Yachimata City in 2019. On the night of the 27th, when his first election was confirmed, Goto said, “Thanks to you, I was able to win the honor of being elected. It is an honor for us, who have lived within the system that has been created so far, to create a new system with our own wisdom and power, and to achieve the maximum contribution and results to Yachimata citizens. It’s the first step towards a certain future,” he commented with joy.

In his first words on the 20th, Goto said, “I decided to become a politician because I am indebted to Yachimata City. There were people in the city who gave me the opportunity to challenge various things. As a politician. I want to repay them with work for the sake of the citizens”.

Goto debuted in the entertainment world in 2000 as a member of EE JUMP. He retired from the entertainment industry once in 2002, and in 2007, he was arrested for robbery injury and was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison.  After being released from prison, Goto reformed his life with his wife and family and also has publicly shown his tattoo removal on YouTube.

Goto will service a four-year term in the city council.
