TV Asahi has released a statement on the Johnny’s Jimusho press conference

A lot of major networks in Japan are under scrutiny for not reporting about the sexual assault caused by the late Kitagawa Johnny, former president of Johnny’s Jimusho. TV Asahi has released the following statement:

Johnny & Associates held a press conference on the issue of sexual assault and announced a new system, including the resignation of Fujishima Julie and the appointment of Higashiyama Noriyuki as president.

We acknowledged and apologized for this, and clarified our stance of working on measures to prevent recurrence and relief measures for victims, and we believe that we have taken the recommendations of the special team to prevent recurrence seriously.

We will keep an eye on whether Johnny & Associates will be able to earnestly implement these measures under the new system and regain the trust of society.

In addition, we do not believe that there is a problem with the talents themselves regarding the appearance of talents belonging to Johnny & Associates. The attitude of the media regarding the problem is also being questioned.
