Hanshin Tigers won the Central League championship for the first time in 18 years and right now, both Kansai teams are on top, Osaka’s Hanshin Tigers of the Central League has the best record with 80 wins and 44 losses. While the Osaka/Kobe Orix Buffaloes (who are last year’s champs) have the best record in the Pacific League with 75 wins and 46 losses.

As of right now, it is looking like the Hiroshima Carp will take on the DeNA Baystars for the right to go against Hanshin in the Central League. And Chiba Lotte Marines will take on the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks in the Pacific League to take on Orix.

But many fans hope for a Kansai battle in the Japan Series.

The league victory on September 14th was the fastest in Hanshin team history, and the team’s 11th consecutive win was the first time in 41 years since 1982.

Meanwhile, Hanshin fans have flocked to Dotonbori to celebrate.
