KOSE will postpone its contract with Johnny’s Jimusho

Kose and Johnny’s Jimusho have collaborated for decades and now, the company has released the following statement:

The Kose Group has established the Kose Group Human Rights Policy in order to fulfill its responsibility to respect the human rights of all people involved with all stakeholders, and believes that sexual assault of any kind is absolutely unacceptable.

Based on the concept of human rights due diligence, we request all stakeholders involved in the KOSÉ Group’s products and services to understand the above policy and strive to respect human rights.

Based on this, as a company that has had a contract with Johnny’s Office for many years, we will ensure that human rights are thoroughly respected and that compensation for those affected will be made as quickly as possible. We will closely monitor the establishment of an appropriate governance system at the office, including requesting reports on the status of reforms and initiatives and requesting the provision of information as necessary.

On the other hand, we are extremely concerned about the situation in which our talent and the staff who support them, including managers, are losing their opportunities. We will also strongly request that a system be established to allow people to return to their workplaces.

We believe that it is most important that the two things mentioned above proceed smoothly and quickly, namely “compensation for victims and establishment of governance” and “relief for our affiliated talent and staff.” I think it is necessary to clearly separate the two and create a state where they can proceed in parallel.

To that end, we believe that the current Johnny’s office should focus on compensating the victims, and we believe that the talent currently affiliated with it and their management functions may be transferred to other companies or that a governance system be established. I would like to convey the message that we should take immediate action by taking measures such as establishing a separate organization.

As a socially responsible company, we are taking this issue as an opportunity to do our best to make the environment surrounding the talents who connect customers and products and the staff who support them more healthy. We would like to contribute.
